Our Team

 

 

Carmen has spent much of her adult life in the UK engaged in academic studies and gained 10 years of work experience in the hotel and tourism industry. She has published widely on the development of the tourism sector in Burundi and has run tour operations in Burundi, Rwanda and Kenya.

 

Carmen holds a BA in Travel Management from the University of Brighton and an MA in Tourism Destination Management from the University College of Birmingham, both in the United Kingdom. She is pursuing a PhD in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management at Clemson University in the United States.

Ambassador Salvator worked for a long time as a civil servant within administration and diplomacy. Twice elected Member of Parliament after the first democratic elections in 1993 and after the 2005 elections, in 2003, he was appointed Minister of Public Works and Equipment. Not only has he represented Burundian people at national level, but he has also been their representative at international level as Ambassador of Burundi to Uganda. Ambassador Salvator graduated from the University of Burundi with a degree in Teaching and a Degree of Higher Learning in Law at Ahadi University of Kigoma, Tanzania.

Former Advisor of Economic Affairs at the Second Vice President’s office, Christophe actively implemented the first ever waste management program in Burundi and was an advocate for a sustainable agriculture program he learned in Thailand. Christophe also underwent several trainings and workshops on International Negotiation and practices of the East African Community Common Market Protocol. Christophe holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from University of Burundi, Department of Rural Economic Studies.

Denise started by working as an accountant before joining the National Tourism Office. During this time, Denise occupied many top level responsibilities at the Burundi Tourism Office. Starting as Head of the Finance Department and later Head of Studies and Statistics, Denise was gradually promoted over the years to Assistant Director and is currently Director of Finance and Administration. In the course of her career at the National Tourism Office, Denise followed numerous on-the-job trainings in Management and in Sustainable Tourism Development. Denise holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Burundi as well as a Diploma in Management of Economic Policy from Cameroon.

Paul Ndimubandi

Paul is a highly experienced civil servant who worked in community development related sectors. Previous responsibilities include Administrator of the Commune of Mugina, Cibitoke province. Some of his other important functions include being the Chairperson of the Steering Committee in charge of Community Development. Paul holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Burundi, Faculty of Geography and has undergone a training in Leadership in China.
